Business Performance & Partner Insights Analyst

Industry: Insurance FMO / IMO (Medicare, ACA and ancillary, Life and Annuities; P&C and Group launching)
Level: Analyst, with a path to Manager (Performance & Insights) and Director (Decision Intelligence)

Position Summary

Turn carrier, commission, CRM, marketing and finance data into decisions for TBI’s leaders and into insight reports for TBI’s agency partners. Two customers: the executive team, who need a trusted monthly view of growth, margin and mix by division and territory; and the top partners, who want to know how their book compares, where their agents are stuck in contracting, and where the next opportunity is. Build the recurring reports once, automate them with the company’s approved AI tools, and teach others to use them.

This is a performance and insight role, not a report-production role, and it is not a software engineering role. The in-house developer builds the pipes; this analyst defines what flows through them and what it means.

What You Will Own

Executive Performance View

  • Monthly scorecard for the executive meeting: sales, book of business, net growth, gross margin and renewal-vs-first-year mix by division and by carrier, with one page of what changed and why.
  • Consistent metric definitions across Health, Medicare, Life and Finance (what counts as new, plan-to-plan, direct vs. agency, ancillary attach), documented and agreed with each leader.
  • Pre-meeting data: collect each department’s submission, reconcile it to the finance snapshot, and produce the aggregated pre-read with recommendations.

Carrier and Commission Data

  • Build and maintain the book-of-business view from carrier reports (UHC, Humana, Aetna, Blues, regional carriers), commission statements and enrollment platforms; match members and agents across sources where the carriers do not supply a common identifier.
  • Territory growth: book growth by state, county and zip so leadership can evaluate a comp plan based on net growth, and so partners can see where their business is actually coming from.
  • Work with the CIO and developer on direct data feeds (UHC Snowflake first) and on what AgencyBloc can and cannot report; specify requirements, test outputs, own data quality.

Phone and Frontline Digital Technical Support

  • Answer incoming calls from agents with technical questions and from local staff needing assistance (not IT).
  • Diagnose website, portal, login, form, and workflow issues while guiding callers clearly and professionally.
  • Log, prioritize, resolve, or escalate tickets and follow through until the user receives an appropriate response.
  • Communicate patiently and confidently with users of varying technical skill levels.

Partner Insight Reports

  • Make the appointment matrix (every downline agent by carrier and contracting status, with gaps and next actions) a standard, automated deliverable for the top 20 agencies, and extend it: new vs. existing clients, product mix, ancillary attach, territory map.
  • Benchmarks: what top-performing partners do (contracts held, products sold, activity) versus a given partner, with the opportunity gap stated in members and dollars.
  • Support the sales directors and marketing managers with the numbers behind partner reviews, carrier pitches and sponsorship proposals (for example webinar → contract → production).

Decision Support

  • Variance, forecast and scenario work on request: SEP/OEP trends, moratorium impact, ancillary attach scenarios, acquisition recovery, event and sponsorship economics, contracting turnaround.
  • Track the commitments leaders make in the executive meeting and report whether the action moved the number.

AI-enabled Reporting & Enablement

  • Use TBI’s approved AI tools (Claude Enterprise under HIPAA controls) to automate recurring data preparation, build reusable analysis skills, and validate every output before it is distributed.
  • Be one of the company’s AI champions: document how a report is produced so the knowledge lives in the system, and show department power users how to do the same for their own work.

What You Bring

Required

  • Three or more years in analytics, finance, operations or sales operations with real ownership of recurring reporting and the data behind it.
  • Advanced Excel (Power Query, pivot modeling, lookups across messy sources) and working SQL; comfortable joining and cleaning data that was never designed to be joined.
  • Ability to explain a number to a sales leader in one sentence and to a partner in a way that makes them act.
  • Evidence of using AI tools to do analysis faster without trusting them blindly; you check the work.
  • Discretion with PHI, commission and compensation data; follows governance set by IT.

Preferred

  • Insurance distribution experience: FMO/IMO, carrier, call center or agency, especially Medicare Advantage, ACA or ancillary; familiarity with commission statements, book-of-business reports, ready-to-sell and contracting hierarchies.
  • AgencyBloc, Agent Vision, Sunfire, Sherpa, GoHighLevel, Power BI or Looker Studio, Snowflake or another warehouse.
  • Exposure to comp-plan design, co-op/sponsorship reporting, or M&A/book-acquisition analysis.

First 90 Days

  • Days 1–30: shadow Finance, Medicare, Health and Contracting; inventory every report and its source; agree definitions with each leader; rebuild the executive scorecard from the September snapshot.
  • Days 31–60: deliver the appointment matrix as a repeatable report for the top 20 agencies; produce the first territory-growth view for one carrier; write the requirements for the Snowflake feed with the CIO.
  • Days 61–90: run the pre-read for the January executive meeting; publish the first partner benchmark; document the three recurring reports as AI-assisted workflows that someone else can run.

Measures of Success

  • Leaders arrive at the monthly meeting with the same numbers and spend the time on decisions.
  • Net-new vs. existing and growth by territory are reportable, which unblocks the sales comp plan.
  • Top partners receive a standard insight report on a cadence, and ask for more of it; the reports are used in carrier and sponsorship conversations.
  • Fewer manual steps and spreadsheets; reporting logic documented; data issues found before the carriers’ deadlines, not after.

Career Growth

  • Analyst: build and validate the reports, learn FMO economics and the carrier data.
  • Manager, Performance & Insights: own the KPI framework, the operating review cadence, forecasts and the partner insight program.
  • Director, Decision Intelligence: enterprise performance management, strategic planning support, resource allocation, and the company’s AI-enabled analytics practice.
